Meet your board candidates for 2020-21

Election day is coming – and this time we’re not talking about the general election, but our chapter’s board of directors for 2020-2021. Voting will be by email and will open on September 28 and end on September 29. Keep an eye on your email for your ballot. Your candidates:

For President: Ruth Nasrullah

Ruth is the current chapter president, a role she has filled several times over the last 10 or years. She is a freelance journalist, a master naturalist, an activist, and a lover of panel discussions and membership growth.

For Treasurer: Jim Magill

Jim is the current chapter Treasurer. He is a freelance journalist specializing in the energy industry. He retired in 2019 after a long career writing for an oil and gas publication. He has served several terms as chapter officer over the years.

For Board Member At-Large: Melissa Allison

Melissa is a freelance journalist with a background in public radio. Having just relocated back to Houston, she formerly covered local government and current events in Utah.

For Board Member At-Large: Stephanie Coleman

Stephanie is a founder of Tré, a magazine and a strategic platform for sustained dialogue and an information platform highlighting African-American and Afro-Latino cultures and a knowledge resource for historically disenfranchised communities.

For Board Member At-Large: Tom Marsh

Tom is a freelance journalist with 30 years experience covering the railroad, transportation and offshore oil and gas industries. He is a past chapter president and has filled other roles in chapter leadership over the years.
