What a time to be a student!

If you’re a college student, whether you’re a freshman or just graduating, this is possibly the strangest time to be in school.  There’s a global pandemic going on, an economic downturn of astounding proportions, and uncertainty overwhelming many aspects of life.  If you’re a journalism student, we salute you.  And we want to do whatever we can to assist you.

We have a resume and reel review program that will help you polish up your resume for the real world.  We can provide informal mentoring from an experienced chapter member.  Most importantly, we offer programming that caters to you as well as our professional and associate members.

One of our regular programs began when we started social distancing and has continued on.  Our Virtual Coffee Break for Journalists is an opportunity to network, learn from each other, and form friendships with people from across the country (since it’s on Zoom, participants needn’t be in driving distance of Houston).  The next one is scheduled for June 20 and will feature a breakout room should students decide they want to have their own private discussion.  Registration is required and seats are limited, so please register soon by going to https://spj-virtual-coffee-break.eventbrite.com.  Hope to see you there, and if we can assist you in any way, please contact us.
